It is a story of an unhappy girl Nora Seed who was not happy with her life, as she thought that there is nothing good in her life and she had not achieved anything in her life. So she decided to commit suicide after back-to-back unfortunate events like- the give up of Swimming, the death of cat Voltaire, ignorance by her brother, the company firing her from her job, the death of her mother, her backed out from her engagement, denying of going to Australia with her friend, and backed out from the band of her brothel.

After attempting suicide she found herself in the midnight library which exists between life and death. There she finds the librarian, Mrs. Elm. At that place, she had the chance of choosing other options that she had not accepted earlier and get Matt Haig the midnight library pdf.
